T20 World Cup Opens Today

GEORGETOWN, Guyana: New Zealand will take on Sri Lanka in Guyana, while hosts West Indies will start their campaign of the World Twenty20 cricket today against Ireland on the inaugural day of the tournament.

Defending champions Pakistan will start title defence on Saturday against Bangladesh.

The event has been divided in four groups and total 27 matches will be played among 12 teams in 17 days.

Pakistan has been placed with Australia and Bangladesh in Group A. Group B has been comprised of Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Zimbabwe and Group C include South Africa, India and Afghanistan.

Hosts West Indies, England and Ireland have been place in Group D.
